Ubergizmo: IBM Laptop Concept For Spies

  • Nicolas Lehotzky · 1 year ago
Thanks for posting this. I'd like to point out that this is a conceptual product made to highlight what 'could' be incorporated into laptops in the future, rather than a production ready product.

Today, one laptop in 10 is stolen, yet theft deterrent technology is nearly non-existent, so I wanted to explore new solutions.

I think its good as of concept is concerned and innovation, secure knob, wont work much as expiration and renewalz (in some cases with RSA Knobz ) HIDDEN USB PORTS ??? if they are hiding it then y r they there ?? or may be they are hidden until its coming to the market. and i dont like the idea of a shredder in there, any how .. its still a concept, an idea lets see whats this gonna take ...

How about a place to hide toothpaste so you can have clean teeth on a plane?

And I love the thought that a laptop is usually on the go, and doesn't have a printer. So you added weight with a useless feature.

How about hitting CTRL+ALT+DELETE simultaneously gives the user a lethal shock, and wipes the computer clean. Of course, running windows, who wants to commit suicide every day or two?

Security knob - that's for sure. Seriously? Is that like freedom fries, or do "agents" do something with knobs now to practice their craft?

    What's a security-knob?

What? No Bond girl to showcase the computer? That omission alone makes it hard for me to think this is a spy's notebook...

I sure do wish that people would put a link to a product or spec page when they talk about a product..

Sure I can google it... but how about making it a little easier?

007 is going to get carpal tunnel syndrome with that big silver thing right in the way of where a left arm should go.

I would just like to say... this thing looks impractical and a bit "johnny mnemonic" for the real world. It would have been a great prop in Demolition Man... Hackers maybe?!?

What exactly does the "security knob" do?
  • Digipatd · 1 year ago
That is awesome! How can I get one?

    Security Knob?

No QWERTY keyboard? And the security knob looks like it gets in the way.
I'd swallow the cyanide pill just so I don't have to use that cumbersome thing.
