Scuse my ignorance but how do I transfer the italy map from the cd that comes with the European version, to my sd card? I don't have a slot in the pc, but I do have a combo printer that has a slot.
Maybe other people who want the Europe maps can get the cd from Binatone?

I purchased from Binatone updates for speed camera alerts (after free 6 Months expired) @£10.00 first told it would be a Zip file, which it was not although no speed camera "updates " have been done since first launched , download was not succesful although it was exactly done to there vague instructions and now have been advised to send it back for repair.
Tthe helpline is a waste of time

Ok, I cannot answer all the following messages, but this will cover many of them.
* If you want Europe maps, you have to go to Binatone directly. You cannot order them off the website, so be prepared to wait on the telephone. You can also buy the SD cards on ebay, but rarely do they come up.
* If you buy the SD card for Western Europe only, the Binatone Helpline (or non help line) will give you a story that you need to delete two or three files for the SD card to work. I do not know if this is true or not. I have just bought some off e-bay, so I will have to let you know...
* Please do not waste time trying to get around the Binatone Website, it is very little help. All you can do is call them as you will never find a site where you will download new maps...sad but true.

I searched 'sd cards maps' in e bay as suggested and came up with a few. However there are quite a few different map formats and I doubt that a TomTom vesrion etc would work in a Binatone. As mentioned Western Europe is a available from Binatone for £40. Does anyone know if it's necessary to enter a serial number to get it to install?
Does anyone have an sd card with western europe that I could copy please? Has to be worth a drink or two!

Bought X430 from Argos but it wasn't in a sealed box. The 'Navigation' button on the main menu screen would not work. E-mailed Binatone twice and was asked to send it back with a cheque for repair (even though I told them it was new!) I exchanged it at Argos for a shrink-wrapped new one and realised that someone had taken the SD card out of the first one and then returned it. You would think Binatone would have asked this question first! To be fair, their response time was less than 24 hours.

Since then I have used it in France, Germany and the UK and am happy with it, but only because it was on offer at £110. At the normal price it has to compete with Garmin and TomTom.

I have copied the 1GB SD card supplied with the X430 on to a 2GB SD card formatted FAT32 and it works fine. That way you can install the map of Italy from the CD and have all the maps at the same time. The X430 stores your bookmarks, saved routes etc. in files on the SD card and there is not much free space on the 1GB SD card supplied.

Be aware that the X430 will only plan routes within one map (usually = one country), although some maps are two or three countries together (e.g. Spain+Portugal, Germany+Austria+Switzerland).

I know this is all about the X430 but most of it probably applies to other models. The maps are Navteq and the navigation s/w is Nokia!

Not a bad unit all in all, but forget the Binatone software, which is not very user friendly. I downloaded Route66 Mobile Navigator from a well known download site (TPB), unzipped thye files, and using ms active synch put the files on a 2gig sd card (cost £7) fired up the unit and now I have a user friendly street navigator, with all of Europe, . The tpb file one that is 1.26gig zipped. Now there's a clue!
PS Remove the card and it still works with the original software.

To add to my post above, I got all the maps for the WE version on a 2GB SD card as follows:

1. First it's probably a good idea to lock (using the switch on the card) the 1GB SD card supplied with the Satnav to make sure you don't accidentally mess it up.

2. Insert the 1GB card supplied with the Satnav into your PC or card reader and copy the two folders 'cities' and 'MobileNavigator' from the 1GB SD card to your PC.

3. Insert the CD supplied with the Satnav into your PC and copy the following files:

From the 'cities' folder on the CD to the 'cities' folder you made in step 2, copy

italy nt map.cdt
nt ita en 50 standard cq.cdt
scandinavia nt map.cdt
nt scan en 50 standard cq.cdt

4. From the 'MobileNavigator' folder on the CD to the 'MobileNavigator' folder you made in Step 2 copy the following files:

lic bin sca 0x014010707000......
lic bin it 0x014010707000..... (although this was already on my 1GB card)

5. Insert a 2GB card into your PC, format it FAT32 and then copy the folders 'cities' and 'MobileNavigator to the 2GB card.

6. Go and make a cup of tea while this copies.

7. Check all the maps before you go anywhere important as the Satnav can crash if all the files aren't copied correctly.

Best buy for SD cards is 7dayshop.com. You would think for the price difference between 1GB and 2GB cards, Binatone could have supplied a 2GB card with all maps installed.

Dont waste your money this is an absolutely piece of crap that dont work.It cant calculate a simple route looses signal leaving you stranded.Dosnt recalculate if you take wrong turn & takes forever to get a sgnal & calculate a route.I think it makes it up because as soon as you set off it displays loss of signal.Accuracy is only known to Binatone A postcode I requested was 1.5miles off destination it lead me to.Buy a Binatone bin your money not worth considering.

your best move is to get rid of it buy a garmin they are fully loaded ,have all cameras. and scool zones and a top update facility. i simply plug it in to my computer and push update...no money involved either

When I try to enable the speed camera warning by clicking on GeneralSettings>Premium> RoadPilot UK or RoadPilot Europe, I get a message to go to the Binatone website and enter the Device Identification Number. There is nowhere on the Website to enter the serial number. Binatone helpline advises me the unit is faulty and to send it for repair although everything else is working fine. If you download the speed camera warning from the Website to your Satnav, this (according to Binatone) causes the unit to be faulty and it needs to be returned for repair! I'm not sure the Binatone helpline knows how the speed camera warning is meant to be enabled. If they do finally tell me how to get it working, I will post it here. Or if you know what you need to do, and how to tell if it is working, please post here.

This system can get very confused in London; stating that there is no route between two points or running out of processing power before it finds a route.

It has problems in Winchester as well.

visited my friend in the wychwoods earlier in the year, made my way quite successfully from York down there, was raving to friend how great it was, (and I had used it to get to stevenage the week before without incident) We decide to go shopping in witney, well neither me nor her new the area at all, moira (sat nav) to the rescue...er no!!! it took us two hours to get out of witney, in the end I put it in its box and haven't used it since. AA route planner every time, never lets me down!!!

Still trying to sort the speed camera warning with Binatone but I just got the same answer - return it for repair, even though it is clearly either a software or support issue and the unit is otherwise working, despite what they claim is a manufacturing defect. I don't want to return it if their 'repair' is as bad as their 'support'.

Hi everyone, I have just got binatone A350 and was looking for software updates. Having read through the comments there does seem to be alot of problems with the software. I have struggled a bit with mine and it does take a while for the signal to catch (and does seem to lose it often) which is why I'm looking for updates. Unfortunately I can't seem to find anything. I live in the UK and only have UK and Ireland maps.
Oh BTW my camera notification works so at least that's something.
Can anyone direct me to an update site (preferably a free download)

Seems though I am one of those caught. Tried to download free 6 month speedcam update from website and got nowhere. Installed Active Sync from Microsoft but still no joy. Used satnav in Spain last month and it worked fine (no speed cams though) Can anyone help please.

I must admit I struggled with the web site as there link/file for Active link was poor.
I installed version 4.2, from microsoft not the latest, down loaded the speed trap data & updated with out problems there after.
No sign of Map updates on site however, then again cheaper to buy a new one every couple of year, than some manufacurers map upgrades. I only paid £38 for mine new!!

I have been using mine for one year. It sometimes takes longer to get somewhere with it and sometimes it says one way it's qicker but it's not at all. No my problesm is that I bought this from Argos and was told it has full Europe and it didn't it anly had western Europe(a 350). Now I could not get my money back as this was the kind you can not give it back.
My problems is that I need full Europe map and as I have asked for one like this I would not like to pay anything I have tried to speack to somebody from Argos BUT no chance, it was my fault. Now does anyone know how to get full europe map. and also I had no usb cable in the box and I just realised that!!
